Self-Love Means Putting Yourself First
Coming up to Christmas we all know this can be a hectic and busy time. It can be easy to get caught up in the Christmas spirit of thinking about those you love as you shop for their presents and prepare for the family lunches and dinners. However don’t forget yourself.
Part of self-love is giving your body the rest it needs and giving yourself some down time so that it may rejuvenate for the following year. In our busy modern lives we often forget about our self. We are the most important thing in our life because if we do not care for us, we are no good to anyone else.
Use this time over Christmas to take a break, get some well-deserved rest and put you first for a change. 5 tips for to get you back on track:
1. Everyday do something relaxing or fun for yourself. Even if it’s just 10 minutes.
2. Use this time to look back over 2011 at what you have learned this year. Find gratitude for the experiences you’ve had and what they’ve taught you.
3. Re-assess your goals for 2012. See if you are on track or not and create a plan of action that will allow you to achieve your goals in 2012.
4. Self-love is about giving your body the nutrients it is craving for. So rather than over-indulging in unhealthy food, stop and think about what your body wants rather than your taste buds! Christmas does not have to be a time of gaining weight or feeling frumpy.
5. Sleep in! Give your body the rest it needs to rejuvenate and don’t feel guilty about it! Get your husband to get the kids up early so you can have a sleep in here and there. Sleep can balance your hormones, aid in weight loss and lift your mood.
Think about what you really need to be healthy, happy and energised. Make time for you and your body’s needs and enjoy the benefits of increased health, better moods, more energy and zest for life.
